MEDICAL STATEMENT FOR MEAL MODIFICATIONS

Federal Laws and USDA regulations require that School Food Authorities make reasonable meal modification on a case-by-case basis to accomodate children whos disability restricts their diet. A request for a resonable modification to the disability or limitation caused by the disability requires a statement from a state-licensed heatlh care professional who is authorized to write medical prescriptions under state law.

The Presidio Independent School District today announced an amendment to its policy for serving meals for children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2023-2024 school year, which would allow for all children at all schools/sites to be served meals at no charge. School nutrition professionals act in a variety of roles related to serving K-12 students meals and snacks in compliance with federal child nutrition programs.
