John Ferguson- Presidio HS Band Director
Mr. Ferguson began his teaching career in Presidio as elementary music teacher in 1987, moving to Presidio High School in 1990. He graduated from North Garland (Texas) High School in 1981, received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Arkansas in 1985, and completed a Master of Music at the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. Mr. Ferguson conducts the Marching Band and Concert Band at Presidio High School, and is also an adjunct instructor of brass studies at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. He also plays with The Resonators, a local band he helped to form in 2004.

Lucy Ferguson- Franco MS Band Director
Mrs. Ferguson is the only band director Franco Middle School has had since band began on that campus in 1989. She graduated from Crestwood HS (Cresco, Iowa) in 1985, and received her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1989. Mrs. Ferguson assists with the Presidio High School Band and is flag director for the marching band. She also plays trombone and sings with The Resonators.
Jose Gutierrez- "Mariachi Tierra del Sol" Director
Jose "Taro" Gutierrez began teaching mariachi at Presidio High School in 1999. Prior to coming to Presidio, Mr. Gutierrez taught for 30 years in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Mr. Gutierrez assists with the high school band and is mariachi "Tierra Del Sol" director. Taro is widely sought-after as a keyboardist and will be playing with The Resonators on several dates in the fall of 2007.
Art Combs- Elementary Music Teacher
Art Combs is elementary music teacher at Presidio Elementary School, having held the position since 2000. Prior to Presidio, Mr. Combs has taught in Indiana, Union Hill (Gilmer, TX) schools, Terrell County (Sanderson, TX) ISD, San Vicente (Big Bend National Park) ISD, and Dell City ISD. Mr. Combs assists with the high school band.
The music department of Presidio Independent School District is dedicated to offering a thorough and rewarding musical education to all students enrolled in the music courses available on all three campuses. The music staff has a combined 47 years of experience in the Presidio schools, with over 88 years of teaching experience, total.
